Rubis Financial is a full-service financial-consulting firm that offers a holistic approach to financial planning and advisory services. While we work extensively with individuals and families, we also consider business owners a very important target segment.

We can provide business owners with services such as guidance on employee and executive benefits, business continuity planning, insurance planning, and investment tax strategies. Our work with business owners in these areas can also lead to working with them or members of their company on their individual or family financial and investment planning.

The strategy of working with business owners is enhanced by our efforts to build strong relationships with third-party professionals who are experienced in their field. These include property and casualty insurance agents, attorneys with a focus on commercial work, attorneys who work in legacy planning, and CPAs and accountants. I work hard to educate our network of professional contacts on our services and our work with business owners—and that can turn into a valuable two-way street of referrals.

One of the most important things I can do for business owners is help facilitate open dialogue between business partners and their other key advisors regarding their future financial plans. Today’s business owners have so many things thrown at them each day, so it is understandable when their future financial goals and plans take a backseat. For example, I often see successful, growing companies that don’t take the time to review their buy-sell agreement, or maybe they haven’t set up the proper incentives for some of their key employees.

I tell all of my business-owner clients that the time to discuss their future plans is when the business is going well and partners and employees are working in harmony. An analysis at this time may uncover shortfalls in their planning that can be addressed on a timely basis. The needs of any business will evolve over time, and we need to continually monitor their company’s financial planning.
