Active investment management’s weekly magazine for fee-based advisors

I have built my practice over the years through a combination of client and third-party referrals, educational seminars, networking within my community, and media exposure in the local market.

I have always been a believer in building a solid and extensive base of knowledge and in continuing education. I graduated magna cum laude from Towson University with a degree in business administration and concentrations in accounting and finance. I also earned the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation and was a practicing accountant for a dozen years, with extensive work in real estate and personal taxation issues. Later in my career, I attended the executive education program at Harvard University on investment management and portfolio theory.

With this background and many years of experience as an accountant and financial advisor, I think I have a lot to offer people in terms of financial education. One way I deliver this education is through a weekly radio program called “Your Financial Hour,” which airs every Saturday morning on a well-known station in the Baltimore area.

The show covers a wide range of topics related to financial planning, tax issues, Social Security, college planning, IRAs and 401(k)s, employee benefits, retirement planning, and current market and economic commentary. Occasionally, I will have a guest on the program, such as an attorney or another CPA. Listeners can submit questions via email or on our website for future programs, but we keep the discussion broad so that many of our listeners can gain value from the discussion of a specific issue. And, of course, we cannot give specific financial advice over the air.

The program is something that is very gratifying to me in the sense that it represents providing valuable financial education to the community. But it is also a sound business practice from a marketing perspective. Listeners can visit our website to learn more about our firm and request a personal consultation, or they can request publications that we have available. This has led to the development of many enduring client relationships. I consider that a win-win for our listeners and our practice.
